sens sedinta 1In the opening speech Elena HARCONIŢA, the director of the Library told on the importance of the library and the librarian in society, reviewing the activities of Librarian's Day in Republic of Moldova, including the university librarians participation at the event held in the Government House on May 3, 2017 in Chisinau.

The National Awareness Day on Libraries ended with concrete achievements mentioned not only in academic community but also at national level.

Tatiana PRIAN, the senior librarian was qualified „The Best Librarians of the year 2016”. Five papers of Balti University Library were Awarded with Diplomas at the National Contest „The Best Works in the Field of Librarianship and Information Sciences, published in 2016”.

sens sedinta 2Ion GAGIM, Professor, Rector of USARB congratulated the librarians on professional feast. Mr. Ion Gagim spoke about the book role and the library in his life, about the human face of the library, thanked for the important contributions of the library in the process of university scientific training and research and handed Diplomas from the Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Education: Ludmila RĂILEANU, head of the Service has received the Diploma of the Ministry of Culture: "In appreciation of the innovative actions within the informational and promotional programs on the occasion of the Librarian's Day"; Elena ŢURCAN, librarian responsible for the work of the Musical Documents Office has received the Diploma of the Ministry of Education "For dedication in promoting and diversifying the activities with the public, a substantial contribution to the implementation of innovative reading-based services, has great merits in cultivating love of books and on the occasion of Librarian's Day".

Elena STRATAN, Adella CUCU, Natalia CULICOV, Varvara GANEA and Irina ZALIGAEVA have received the Diplomas from USARB "For Special Performance in Professional Work and on the occasion of the Librarian's Day and the National Library Awareness Day on Libraries".

sens sedinta 3Lia PASCARI, director of the Ion Creangă Republican Theoretical High School from Balti came up with a congratulation messages and thanks for librarian group of the USARB Scientific Library: Valentina TOPALO, head of the Cultural Events/ UN DC/ EU IC Centres; Ana NAGHERNEAC, head of Information and Bibliographic Research service; Mira GORE, the librarian, Marina MAGHER the head of Romanian Information Center; Lilia IAVORSCAIA, the librarian, Natalia LUCHIANCIUC, the librarian; Margarita IULIC, the librarian, Collections Communication Service; Nelea LICHII, the librarian, Cataloging. Svetlana CECAN, the librarian, Service Organization and Conservation of Collections have received the Diploma "In sign of high gratitude and consideration for the effort made to promote literary and national values, for the tireless work done for the book, for the power of creation and perseverance on librarianship field on the occasion of World Book Day and the Librarian Day".

 

May 5, 2017. Inauguration of the Library at Chernobyl Echo Foundation in Chişinău

sens cernobil 1Valentina Topalo, Head of Cultural Events Center, UN CD, CIUE, USARB Scientific Library participated on May 5th at the inauguration of the Library at Chernobyl Echo Foundation in Chişinău.

Being a participant in the National Campaign "DONATE A BOOK TO CHANGE A DESTINY", the Scientific Library donated 254 volumes from different fields of knowledge to Chernobyl Echo/CRIS Foundation, as an act of charity and support for people of all ages suffering from serious illnesses from the Chernobyl catastrophe 31 years ago.

sens cernobil 2The National Campaign for the collection and donation of the book for people with special needs was launched within the framework of the Project: "Library Network Support Services: modernising libraries in Armenia, Moldova and Belarus through library staff development and reforming libraries [LNSS]” (2015 – 2018) of the Program ERASMUS +ERASMUS+ Capacity Building in the Field of Higher education (CBNE) and Library National Awareness Week Program. Library of Chernobyl’s Echo Foundation was opened, the initiative being scheduled for April 26th, 2017. The Chernobyl’s Echo Foundation commemorates the 31st anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster by rehabilitation and social integration of children, young people hit by the consequences of the Chernobyl accident.

The purpose of the campaign was to raise awareness of the needs of rehabilitation, integration, socialization and development by reading people with special needs.

 

May 3, 2017. "Lithuania in a Package" exhibit opened at the USARB Scientific Library

sens colet postal 1On May 4, 2017 the "Lithuanian in a Package” exhibit was opened at Alecu Russo Balti State University in the Scientific Library by the National Commission of Lithuania for UNESCO and the Lithuanian Embassy in Chisinau.

The mobile exhibition, displayed on the first floor of the Scientific library presents UNESCO heritage sites in Lithuania such as the unique almost 100 km long, sandy Curonian Spit, and the Žuvintas protected reserve. There are ten boxes (mail containers) that display the ten wonders of Lithuania's cultural heritage and nature parks or areas listed in UNESCO registers and lists. One of the exhibits is the Curonian Spit exhibit, which presents the largest spit in the Baltic region, 98 km in length. It separates the Curonian Lagoon from the open Baltic Sea.

sens colet postal 2Another exhibit details the history of Lithuania's Song and Dance festivals. Since 1924, every 4 or 5 years, Lithuanians from all over the world gather in Lithuania to take part in the open air festival featuring folk singers and folk dancers from dozens of countries. Up to 40,00 dancers and singers participate in one such festival.

Lithuania is a country of singers. With the collapse of the Soviet Union, a new national renaissance took place, resulting in spontaneous singing in mass rallies throughout the country. Thereby the movement for independence was called, the Singing Revolution.

All invited to come see this unique exhibit.

Lithuanian Ambassador to RM, E.S. Rimantas Latakas donated the Library two works: "Guilt and Atonement: The Story of 13 January," by Vytautas Landsbergis, Leidykla 2015 and the Lithuanian Culture Guide: Set of 6 Books, 2014 that complement the "Lithuania" collection.

 

May 3, 2017. USARB librarians participation in Librarian's Day festive event at the Government House

sens casa guvernului 1Elena Harconita, Director of the USARB Scientific Library, Lina Mihaluţa, Deputy Director, Vice President of the Library Association from Republic of Moldova(ABRM), Tatiana Prian, Senoir librarian, IT and Networking Center, attended the Librarian's Day festive event at the Government House. Lina Mihaluţa presented a paper "Education Libraries support Progress”. The film "Library National Awareness Week” (April 27 - May 3, 2017) was screened during the event. In the hall were placed banners and posters about Project Erasmus + Capacity Building in the Field of Higher education (CBNE) "Library Network Support Services: modernising libraries in Armenia, Moldova and Belarus through library staff development and reforming libraries [LNSS]” implemented by the Library of the Academy of Public Administration of the Republic of Moldova and the Scientific Library of Alecu Russo Balti State University.

sens lectura 1In the UN / EU Documentation Centers of the USARB Scientific Library took place Student Reading 2017 dedicated to the Library National Awareness Day / Librarian Day in Moldova.

The event was organized during Artistic Education and Creativity Days, led by Eugenia Foca, univ. lect. Department of Educational Sciences and students of the 1-3 years.

Student Reading 2017 gathered more than 30 presenters. The students presented the books they have read:

  • Tîbuleac Tatiana: Mother had green eyes - presentation by Glavan Ana
  • Jim Rohn: The Seasons of Life - presentation by Cojocari Natalia Matia
  • Cristina Tudose: I'm a woman -presentation by Istrati Cristina
  • Aleksandr Duma: La Dame aux Camélias (The Lady of the Camellias / Camille) - presentation by Vlada Ciubuc

Valentina Topalo, head of the Cultural Events Center spoke about the Library National Awareness Day / Librarians' Day in the Republic of Moldova, about the important role of the book, the library and the librarian in society.

Marina Magher, coordinator of Romanian Information Center, presented "Anniversary Books 2017” exhibition and she recommended every student, teacher should read these books.

 

April 28, 2017. Invitation to reading. Botosani-Ipoteşti

sens botosani 1On the 28th of April, 2017, during the Library National Awareness Day dedicated to the Librarian's Day in the Republic of Moldova and to the Library National Day in Romania, Dr. Ala Sainenco, PHD, Director of the Ipoteşti Memorial and "Mihai Eminescu” National Center for Studies presented the Ipotesti Documentary Fund and "Mihai Eminescu” County Library in the Information Center of Romania of USARB Scientific Library.

sens botosani 2The event was attended by students and master students from the Faculty of Letters, the teachers from the Romanian Language and Romanian Philology Department and the Romanian and Universal Literature Department. Ms. Ala Sainenco spoke about Botosani city, mentioning the remarcable places and monuments of this locality and she completed the ICR collections with a valuable set of audio / video documents, magazines, brochures, sets of postcards, leaflets.

 

April 28, 2017. Seminar of Young Researchers in Northern Moldova "MY STORY LIVES HERE"

sens istoria 1On April 28, 2017, in the Conference Hall of the USARB Scientific Library took place the scientific and methodological seminar "MY STORY LIVES HERE”, organized by the Department of Slavic Languages of the Faculty of Letters. The event was opened by Dr. Lilia Trinca, Dean of the Faculty of Letters, who spoke about the importance of this activity for knowing better of native land and getting research skills of local history.

Dr. Diana Ignatenco, led the seminar. During the seminar the speakers motivated and inspired students, pupils, teachers to pursue their own interests on the history, traditions and culture of the Ukrainian villages in the North of Moldova. The event was attended by students and teachers from the Faculty of Letters, pupils and teachers from the Ukrainian schools in the Northern region of the Republic of Moldova.

The exhibition "MY STORY LIVES HERE” were organized and presented by Gherda Palii, the librarian in the Scientific Library USARB. Also, she reported seminar participants about Library National Awareness Day /Librarian's Day in Moldova. At the end of the activity the guests were guided through the library's premises.

 

April 27, 2017. A Flash Mob was organized within the Library National Awareness Day

sens flashmob 1A Flashmob took place within the Library National Awareness Day with the participation of the students from "Ion Creanga” Republican Theoretical High School organized by Victor MORARU, Deputy Director of Education of High School and Valentina TOPALO, head of Cultural Activities Center of Scientific Library USARB.

The 10 minutes of Flash Mob was a combination of voice, music, and sound effects. The volunteers group participated in a Flash Mob story reminded the community about the importance of books, the role of libraries, which are perceived as the knowledge triangle.

 

April 27,  2017. Printed Book vs. E-book public debates

sens dezbateri 1On April 27, 2017, according to the program of the week celebrating Librarian's Day in Moldova and the National Awareness Day on Libraries "Your Library - Your Progress”, in the Romanian Information Center of USARB Scientific Library held public debates on Printed book vs. E-book.

Valentina Topalo, head of Cultural Activities Center opened the event informing the participants about Librarian's Day in Moldova and the National Awareness Day on Libraries "Your Library - Your Progress”, celebrated annually on April 23rd in Republic of Moldova.

Ala Lîsîi, the senior librarian, presented a study on reading printed books and the e-book in the user’s perception. Marina Magher, head of the Romanian Information Center presented the online exhibition 2017: The Anniversary Books.

sens dezbateri 2The students of the Faculty of Letters, journalism and communication sciences speciality, the librarians, teachers discussed about the role of the printed book versus the electronic book, the advantages and disadvantages of the printed book and on-line reading. We also had a talk from Morary Anatol, the writer, member of the Writers’ Unions of Moldova and Romania, journalist, senior lecturer at Balti University. He intervened in the debates with examples about the book which has an irreplaceable place in universities, schools, offices, and homes all over the world, the reader's attitude towards the book of any format, towards the library. Students consider both formats to be valuable in their respective spheres.

 

April 27, 2017. The Literary Gala Characters (Cosplay) in Book Club

sens cosplay 1On Thursday, April 27 in the Book Club was organized the Literary Gala Characters. The coordinator of the event was Valentina TOPALO, the head of the Cultural Activities Center.

The Literary Gala Characters was attended by the students of the Faculty of Educational Sciences, Psychology and Arts. Theater Students performed puppet show playing different literary characters from stories and fairy tales, led by Dr. Lora Ciobanu, Dean of the Faculty and Angela Bejan, univ. lecturer.

The students of "Ion Creangă” Republican Theoretical High School revealed their most beloved literary figures from the Romanian literature. They have been based on Ion Creangă (Nicu from ”Amintiri din copilarie” (Memories from childhood), "Enigma Otiliei” (Otilia's Enigma) by Georghe Călinescu, ”Mara”, by Ioan Slavici, etc.). The students were led by Ana Amoaşii, the teacher of Romanian language and literature. Costumes were excellent, the actors stayed in character throughout and they were great.

The First Edition Literary Gala Characters (Cosplay) was a memorable Day packed with literary characters and it made an impact in academic community.

The event was attended by students, teachers and librarians.

 

April 27, 2017. Alecu Russo Balti State University holded the International Scientific - Practical Conference "Educational Management".

sens conf st 1On April the 27th, within the Library National Awareness Day, Elena Harconita, Director of the USARB Scientific Library participated in the International Scientific - Practical Conference „Educational Management: Achievements and Development Perspectives”. The event was organized by the Faculty of Educational Sciences, Psychology and Arts. The papers within the eight sections of the international scientific-practical conference focused on various themes.

Angela Hăbăşescu, senior librarian of the Scientific Library participated with a paper: Innovative Management - Challenge for Education Sciences.

A Flashmob with student participation occurred all over the academic campus during the conference.

 

April 27, 2017. Working visit to Scientific Library USARB of the European expert in the frame of Erasmus+ LNSS project

sens expert vizit 1In the frame of Library National Awareness Day realized on the basis of Erasmus+ LNSS project, working visits of the european experts have taken place. Thus, in the period of April 27th, 2017 took place the working visit to Scientific Library of Corneliu DRUGA, the European expert in the frame of ERASMUS+ Capacity Building in the Field of Higher education (CBNE) Project: ”Library Network Support Services: modernising libraries in Armenia, Moldova and Belarus through library staff development and reforming libraries [LNSS]”, professor at Brasov Transilvania University, Romania and Rodica Sobieschi-Camerzan, Director of Scientific Library of the Academy of Public Administration in Chisinau. The program of the visit comprised discussions with Valentina PRITCAN Associate Professor, PhD "Alecu Russo" Bălți State University on Erasmus+ LNSS project, Library National Awareness Day and Librainan’s Day in Republic of Moldova program. Information about the librarý’s collection as well as library services, strategies and policies was presented during the tour by Elena Harconita, director of USARB Scientific Library.

 

April 26, 2017. The Inaugural Conference of the Library National Awareness Day

sens inaugurare 1The Inaugural Conference of the Library National Awareness Day on April 26, 2017. The week dedicated to Librarian's Day in Moldova and the National Awareness Day on Libraries Day "Your Library - Your Progress" began in the USARB Scientific Library with the Inauguration Conference of the event.

Elena Harconita, the director of the Scientific Library congratulated the colleagues on the professional day, congratulated those who gave the whole soul for this profession.

Librarian's Day is celebrated since 2001 by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Moldova No.1774 of 21.11.2000, initially on October 5th, and after the amendment of 08.02.2010, on April 23rd. The Decree stipulates the following: "Given the age and scope of the librarian profession in our historical space, honoring the memory of the illustrious personalities of the national pantheon who embraced this profession, appreciating the contribution brought by the library and the librarian to the development of the country's culture recognizing that this institution and this profession play an important role in the development of the information society and taking into account the proposal of the Librarians Association".

The Librarian Day in Moldova coincide with World Book and Copyright Day, set up in 1995 at the UNESCO General Conference. The idea of marking the 23rd of April came from Spain where the spring festival day of Sant Jordi (St. George’s Day) takes place annually, in which men give roses to women and women give a book to men. That day is also known Book Day, coinciding with the anniversaries of the deaths (1616) of William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes.

Ms. Irina Bokova, Director-General of UNESCO on the occasion of World Book and Copyright Day said: "World Book and Copyright Day is an opportunity to highlight the power of books to promote our vision of knowledge societies that are inclusive, pluralistic, equitable, open and participatory for all citizens”.

sens inaugurare 2Elena Harconita has reviewed the program of events, including the Library National Awareness Day (transferred from 27 April to 4 May), to be held this week to promote the Book, the Reading, the Library and the Librarian: presentations of the Book Rare Collections, Anniversary Books - 2017, Great librarians from the Republic of Moldova; The Literary Gala Characters gala (Cosplay); Invitation to reading at the Ipotesti Documentary Fund and the "Mihai Eminescu” County Library, Botosani; Romania, Printed book vs E-book public debates; The seminar of young researchers from Northern Moldova about the history of the place where they came from, a contest with the participation of the Ukrainian Diaspora in the Republic of Moldova and the Slavic Chair of Faculty of Letters, etc.

The Director of the library thanked a group of librarians for distinct activity, for various successes in some processes during the year 2016. Merit Diplomas were offered to the librarians: Elena Cristian for participation in updating the Library Development Policy, a component of the Project's realization Erasmus+; Svetlana Şişcanu for the implementation of the Acquisitions Module in ALEPH software; Mihaela Staver for indexing of USARB works in ZENODO; Ala Lisîi for synthesis of the study of the E-Book in the user perception; Olga Dascal, Angela Hăbăşescu, Snejana Zadainova for effective participation in the programs dedicated to users; Valentina Vacarciuc, Aliona Purici for active implications in Institutional Repozitory ORA USARB development; Gabriela Cazacu for the captivating presentation of recent acquisitions in the Information Days; Galina Belcovschi for responsible and creative attitude to work.

sens inaugurare 3Within this conference Elena Harconiţa told about the participation of the Library at the 26 th edition of March 29, 2017 Symposium Bibliologic Year 2016 entitled "The National Library of the Republic of Moldova – the Platform for Professional Inclusion for Librarian Community". Mrs. Elena Harconita participated with a paper "The Effects of International Projects on Academic Libraries and the National Awareness Day on Libraries”. They were also presented posters, films that highlighted the fruitful collaboration with the National Library of the Republic of Moldova, the achievements of the Balti Departmental Librarian Center and the North Branch of the Educational Libraries of Association Library of Republic of Moldova(ABRM).

The presence of the Library, of Elena Harconita and her colleagues at this Symposium was highly appreciated by the letter of thanks and respect from Elena Pintilii, General-Director of National Library of Moldova.

At the end of the conference Mrs. Director, congratulated once again and thanked the librarians for involvement with dedication in professional activity, openness for various and diverse trainings, integration into all innovations, both institutional and external.

 

Thematic exhibitions on-line
