training pilot 1...On..10 February 2017, the Pilot Training Module No. 8 about the Library Collection Development Policies in the framework of the program "Library Network Support Services (LNSS): Modernizing libraries in Armenia, Moldova and Belarus through library staff development and reforming library services” took place in the Scientific Library of Alecu Russo Balti State University.

European experts, Dr. Angela Repanovici, "Transylvania", University of Brasov, Romania and Dr. Manolis KOUKOURAKIS, Director of the University Library of Crete, Greece had a meeting with Ion Gagim, Rector of USARB and the Scientific Library staff representatives while visiting the Bălţi University.

training pilot 2Dr. Angela REPANOVICI, "Transylvania", University of Brasov, Romania and Dr. Manolis KOUKOURAKIS, Director of the University Library of Crete, Greece greeted the participants and presented the objectives of the monitoring program in the Republic of Moldova. They also mentioned that this was their first time in Bălţi.

The guests expressed their gratitude for meeting with colleagues from the Republic of Moldova. They appreciated the role of the Scientific Library and librarians in the university campus, the importance of their presence in the heart of this academic space, and wished them happiness, hope, and strength in continuing their profession as librarians.

Twenty-one employees of the university library attended the training conducted by Elena HARCONIŢA, the Director of the Scientific Library.

The Training program included the following presentations from the three trainers :

training pilot 4The Library Collection Development Policy is the most important policy that ensures the implementation and development of the most valuable library tasks: selecting, acquiring, and providing access to informational resources in all categories for actual and potential users.

During the presentations, the participants discussed about strengthening the information about the terms and definitions, standards and principles, and the policies in Collection Development, as well as how to use Survey Monkey to generate electronic questionnaires.

At the conclusion of the training, the participants evaluated the Library Collections Development Policy Module, and gave the maximum score for well-prepared presentations, clear topic explanations, excellent communication, and effective knowledge transfer from the trainers to the participants.
