2017, 31 JANUARY - PRODUCTION MEETING ON SL USARB ANNUAL ACTIVITY REPORT 2016

...On..31..January, 2017 at the USARB Scientific Library, the production meeting began with a minute of silence in tribute to the memory of Mr. Ion Ungureanu, actor and director, deputy in the First Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, Minister of Culture in 1990-1994, People's Artist, Laureate of the National Award.

After that, Elena Harconita, Director of the Library, spoke about the achievements of the Scientific Library during the 2016 year and mentioned that the report "Competence and role of the USARB Scientific Library in support the USARB scientific education and research process” were presented within the Senate. The presentation included all the achievements of the Library during 2016 and its participation in 3 Projects, which brought an income material , partially in the amount of 110 647 lei or 5 270 EURO . Also, she mentioned that during the last three years, information resources coming from donations, exchange, projects included more than 1 535 510 lei or 73 120 EURO. At present, the Library has 6 Centers, an Information Point, 3 international collections and 10 private collections.

Being a participant of three Projects, MISISQ - TEMPUS – Modern Information Service for Improvement Study Quality, the program Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) project "Library Network Support Services” (LNSS): modernising libraries in Armenia, Moldova and Belarus through library staff development and reforming library services (LNSS), proiect nr 561633-EPP-1-2015-1-AM-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP (2015-2018), Modernization of academic library services in Moldova, funded by the Norwegian Cooperation Program with Eurasia in Higher Education, developed in partnership between 18 university libraries in the Republic of Moldova, University of Bergen, Norway and Transilvania University of Brasov, Romania (2016-2019), financed by Norwegian Cooperation Program in Higher Education with Eurasia, developed in partnership between 18 university libraries in the Republic of Moldova, University of Bergen, Norway and Transilvania University of Brasov, Romania (2016-2019), the Scientific Library benefited from technical equipment, the ExLibris Primo platform, the WP3 Information Literacy System was implemented, training sessions were organized;  the Curriculum and the sheet unity course "The Basics of Information  Literacy (1 ECTS)” were developed as well as updated the content of the course.

The report also included the Library Chapter in figures, the satisfaction assessment survey of students and teachers on the competence and role of the USARB Scientific Library in the process of scientific studies and research.

Valentina Topalo, Head of Info-Libraries Activities Center, reported on the participation of the USARB Scientific Library in the ERASMUS + Capacity Building Project in the Field of Higher Education Project (CBHE), stressing the basic objective of the project. : Strengthening and modernization of libraries and improve the competencies and skills of library staff in higher education institutions of Armenia, Moldova and Belarus, by developing innovative libraries to support education and lifelong learning. In the context of participation in the Project all activities that took place during the year 2016 were mentioned:

  • Brasov, Romania 2016 - Informative presentation in English about Bălţi, USARB and the Scientific Library;
  • Ensuring ESP Training - English for Specific Purposes supported by International Trainers Jerald CAVANAGH BSc Econ, MSc, MA, Librarian Institute, Limerick Institute of Technology; Padraig KIRBY BA (Hons) HdipLIS MSc (LIS), Senior Library Assistant, Limerick Institute of Technology;
  • Participation, together with the representatives of 9 higher education institutions - LNSS consortium members, librarians and teachers from Armenia, Belarus and Moldova from the Erasmus + European Program, supported by international trainers Gerard Cullen, project manager, Pyramid Group, Jerald Cavanagh, Director of the Limerick Institute of Technology Library and Padraig Kirby, Deputy Director of Limerick Institute of Technology Library; Organizing and promoting seminars and training workshops with librarians and the users: Open Access Days, Information Days, Open Education Days, including school, college and vocational school libraries from the Northern districts of the Republic of Moldova;
  • Participation in the elaboration t he Modules Course for librarians, which will be later placed on the online platform, with download and print capabilities;
  • Participation in drafting legislative acts and national policies in the field of librarianship. Organization Training Campaign for Trainers  on Information Literacy in international projects.

Thanks to the project, library staff will be equipped to provide library instruction for library users as well as to manage and operate modern quality services to support teaching, learning and research.
