2018, 4 OCTOBER - FINAL MANAGEMENT MEETING AND CONFERENCE OF THE PROJECT "LIBRARY NETWORK SUPPORT SERVICES: MODERNIZING LIBRARIES IN ARMENIA, MOLDOVA AND BELARUS THROUGH LIBRARY STAFF DEVELOPMENT AND REFORMING LIBRARIES [LNSS]" WAS HELD AT THE "ALECU RUSSO" BALTI STATE UNIVERSITY
..On..October..3 - 5, 2018, USARB librarians participated in the Final Management Meeting and Conference of the project “Library Network Support Services: modernizing libraries in Armenia, Moldova and Belarus through library staff development and reforming libraries [LNSS]” a project developed under the Erasmus + program financed by the European Union, which held its work at the Academy of Public Administration of Moldova and "Alecu Russo" Balti State University.
The meeting was attended by more than 50 representatives of the partner countries in the project.
The USARB Scientific Library was represented by the project team: Elena HARCONIŢA, Director, LNSS Institutional Coordinator, Lina MIHALUŢA, Deputy Director, Igor AFATIN, Deputy Director of Automation, Valentina TOPALO, Main Librarian.
At the meeting, Tereza KHECHOYAN, International Project Coordinator, Vice-Rector of the Academy of Public Administration of Armenia made a review of the activities carried out over three years. The results of the project were discussed by the participants of the project: three universities from Armenia, four universities from Belarus and two higher education institutions of the Republic of Moldova - Academy of Public Administration and "Alecu Russo Balti State University with the report: The LNSS Project: Effects and Professional Achievements in USARB, 2015-2018.
The final conference of October 4 was hosted by the "Alecu Russo" Bălţi State University. Natalia Gaşiţoi, PHD, Rector USARB in the welcome message, highlighted the significance of the international partnerships to increase the quality of university processes. The USARB rector pointed out the evolution path of the university, focusing on the correlation between tradition and innovation, and noted the role of the USARB Scientific Library in supporting the education, research and development of academic staff and students.
Valentina PRIŢCAN, Associate Professor, PHD, Vice-Rector for Scientific Activity and International Relations, welcomed the participants at the final conference of the LNSS project, noting that over 50 participants, representatives of universities from Armenia, Germany, Romania, Greece, Ireland, Belarus, Georgia are also found in other consortia for the implementation of Erasmus+ projects with USARB participation. Valentina PRITCAN reiterated the benefits of the LNSS project for the USARB community and she highly appreciated the involvement of the USaRB team in the implementation of the project, mentioning the considerable role of Tereza KHECHOYAN, LNSS Project Coordinator.
Tereza KHECHOYAN thanked the USARB Rectorate and Mrs. Elena HARCONIŢA, Director, USARB, LNSS Institutional Coordinator for commitment and responsible attitude in the implementation of the project.
At the Conference have been approached more topics focused on analyzing the results of several work packages: ''The Rationale of EMI in LNSS Armenia, Belarus and Moldova'' - Gerard Cullen, TPG, Germany; Angela Repanovici, Transilvania University of Brasov, Romania; ''LNSS: Sharing Best Practice. LITs (Ireland) Participation'' - Jerald Cavanagh and Padraig Kirby, Limerick Institute of Technology, Ireland; ''LNSS Armenia, Belarus and Moldova Survey: Methodology and Results at the End of the Project'' - Angela Repanovici, Transilvania University of Brasov, Romania; ''Summary of Student Evaluation Feedbacks from Pilot Trainings: Methodology and Results'' - Manolis Koukourakis, University of Crete, Greece; ''The LNSS Project and the Development of the Network of Open Access Repositories in Belarus'' - Vladimir Kulazhanka, Belarusian State University, Belarus; "Open Access in Armenia'' - Anna Chulyan, Yerevan State University of Languages and Social Sciences, Armenia; "Innovative Services Developed within LNSS Project" Elena Harconita, Alecu Russo State University of Balti, Moldova.
Participants at the event visited the Fair of the Erasmus + projects implementation with USARB participation and the Scientific Library USARB, being led through the Library's premises by director Elena Harconita.
Libraries of educational institutions of beneficiary countries have substantially strengthened their capabilities, being equipped with modern equipment, have expanded their network of reader services, including on-line services. The staff of libraries, teachers and students had study visits, training sessions.
Beneficiaries of the "Library Network Support Services: modernizing libraries in Armenia, Moldova and Belarus through library staff development and reforming libraries [LNSS]” signed a Memorandum of Partnership and Cooperation within the LNSS Consortium.
Memorandum provides a continuation of cooperation between signatory education institutions for a period of 5 years. The document aims to contribute to the development of relations between Armenia, Moldova and Belarus in the field of science, education and culture as a whole, to contribute to the development of information society, to improve the professional services and skills of university library employees, to disseminate best practices and to exchange experience among librarians.
The project "Library support services: modernizing the libraries in Armenia, Moldova and Belarus by developing library staff and libraries reforming" was implemented during 2016-2018, aiming at consolidating and modernizing libraries, raising the skills and abilities of library staff in the respective states. The project brought together 13 universities from 7 countries - Ireland, Germany, Greece, Romania, Armenia, Moldova and Belarus.
